Why not give yourself a spring clean…..?

Spring was evident this past week – early daffodils in flower, crocuses a beautiful splash of colour daffodilsaround Crieff…..The arrival of spring, after the long, dark nights of winter is much longed for, it lifts our spirits, we can see longer, lighter days ahead and this has a knock on effect to our mental and physical wellbeing.  Are you someone who believes in spring cleaning?  Giving the house an extra vigorous clean, sort out what you need and can do without?  What about you?  Ever thought of giving yourself a spring clean?

At the New Year many of us set ourselves “resolutions” – goals – some may have been well thought out, meaningful and achievable, others just “wishes” with no real intention to take the necessary action in order to fulfil them.  Either way, if this is you, how are you doing nearly 4 months on, a third of the way through the year?  Are you on track, are you where you wanted to be at this point?  If not, what’s getting in your way?  What do you need to do differently, do less of, do more of?

As you spring clean your house, why not apply the same principles to yourself?  Take stock of “where you’re at” – are there actions, thoughts, beliefs which you need to get rid of, or ones that would be useful for you to acquire?  What changes would you like to make to benefit not just yourself but have a “ripple” effect onto those you love?  Perhaps you want to take greater care of your health (and a trip to the Natural Clinic in Crieff is a great place to start!), develop a healthier lifestyle, exercise, reduce your stress levels, address that work/life imbalance, learn a new skill – the list is endless! Perhaps it’s something you’ve been putting off although you know you’ll feel so much better for taking action, or something you’ve always wanted to do.

I would suggest that there is no time like the present – Carpe Diem – seize the day!  Sometimes we look for the perfect time to start (guess what, it will never come), we over analyse, look for problems, the “ifs” and the “buts” before they have even come over the horizon, when it’s better to just go with one’s gut instinct, make a plan – however sketchy- and take that first step – you might know the quote by Martin Luther King ” You don’t need to see the whole staircase, just take that first step in faith”.

Go on, I urge you…. take that first step
